Martin girls went back to doing what they do best Friday night in a 33-18 triumph over neighborhood rival Delton. They played terrific defense.

The Lady Clippers, who haven’t yielded as many as 50 points to an opponent all season, limited the Panthers to just 18

“Tonight was a good win,” coach Ben Schipper said. “We’ve been focusing on our ball movement and off ball movement against the zone and I was pleased with our improvement tonight. It opened up a lot more one on one opportunities for us.

“We just need to continue to be more aggressive when we do have those opportunities.”

Schipper said Elizabeth Reinke returned from her ankle injury for the first time in a month and immediately provided a spark.

“It’s so good to have her back out there with us,” the coach added. “Hailey Snyder also provided us a good spark of great defense and dribble drives off the bench. Makala Goddard led us with 12 points tonight, making four threes.”

The Clippers’ overall record now is 9-2.
