Martin thus far this season has found its home football field to its liking. The Clippers have outscored their opponents there 91-0 in two ballgames.

Martin put in the effort for a 41-0 shutout victory over the visiting Cobras Friday night from Detroit University Prep Science and Math.

Martin scored a touchdown early in the first quarter and Cayden Curry carried in a two-point conversion, and the Clippers never looked back.

Martin’s defensive line simply overpowered Detroit Prep, as nearly every play was a sack in the backfield or an immediate stop. Senior Dugan Dortch (55) was a key player in that defensive stand, with some great tackles, and nothing got past him.

A dropped pass in the second quarter resulted in the Clippers taking over on downs. The long drive from Martin’s own 11-yard line was rewarded by Senior Logan Elkins (4) scoring a touchdown.

offensively, scoring two touchdowns apiece. Freshman Donovan Moss made an appearance in the fourth quarter with a touchdown that was considered icing on the cake.

Head coach Mike McGuire commented on the game, “I’m happy with how we prepared this week and how we executed.”

The 2-1 Clippers will be host to Coloma next week.
