The Martin High School wrestling team defeated Decatur in the regional semifinals 33-26 Wednesday and then bested White Pigeon in the regional championship match 36-33. The matches were held at White Pigeon.
Clipper winners in the match against Decatur were Logan Gilbert (106 lbs.), Kristian Heighton )113), Cole Reitz (120), Jayce Ritchie (126), Haylen Buell (138), Matthew Holmes (144) and Jack Bagwell (150). Buell and Holmes both won by pins.
In the finals against White Pigeon, Gilbert, Reitz, Ritchie, Jonathan Owen (190) and Buell all won by pins. Taking decisions were Bagwell and Seth Toris (132).
The individual regional tournament will be Saturday at Mendon. State team quarterfinals will get under way Friday, Feb. 23.
Martin reached the final four last year before falling to the eventual state champions.
