Martin rolls to 3rd straight win, 64-18 vs. Maple Valley

The Martin High School varsity football team Friday evening recorded its 13th victory in 14 attempts over the last two years after switching to eight-man football.

The Clippers hiked their overall record this season to 3-0 with a resounding 64-18 triumph over Maple Valley.

They have lost only once, to state champion Colon, in the state semifinals last year.

Martin led only 20-12 at halftime, but exploded offensively for 44 points in the last 24 minutes.

QB Gabe Myers ruished for for 199 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 140 yards and two TDs.
Brayden Eckman had 14 rushes for 65 Yards and two TDs, one pass reception for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Mitchell Jager scored on a 42-yard pass play.
On defense, JR Hildebrand had nine tackles, one for a loss; Eckman posted seven tackles, three for a loss; Christopher Tuinstra 5.5 tackles, one for a loss; Charley Martin 4.5 tackles,
and Tanner Bird four tackles, one for a loss and he forced a fumble.

Martin will try to make it four in a row next Friday at Lawrence.
