The Martin varsity volleyball team Thursday evening defeated Galesburg-Augusta in three matches, 25-18 for the first 25-8 in the second and 25-14 to finish it off.
The Clippers in set one had to adjust mid-set because team leader Makala Goddard was injured chasing down a ball and ending up smacking her nose on the ground. Yet she still came back to play the second and third sets, showing real grit.
Avery Veltman came out of retirement from setting and helped the team to win the first set Veltman led the offensive attack with nine kills on the night. Hailey Snyder contributed 18 digs and Katelin Bird and Avery Jager both came up with five blocks.
