Martin senior Carsen Young and freshman Elliana Young both qualified for next Saturday’s Division 4 cross-country championships at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
Carsen captured seventh place in the boys’ meet at Allendale last Saturday, checking in with a time of 17:45.84. Elliana finished ninth in the girls’ race with a time of 21:53.58 on the five-kilometer course.
The Martin boys’ team missed a hot at going to state by two places. They finished fifth as a team with 137 points. Saugatuck won it with 33 and Wyoming Potters’ House was runner-up with 62.
Rounding out the regional scoring for the Clippers were sophomore James Blackburn 27th in 19:10.06; Eli Dykstra, 30th, 19:18.16; senior Kyle Pallett 38th, 19:41.06, and freshman Malakai Vanvolkinburg 55th.
Carsen also qualified for the Division 4 state meet a year ago.
