The amazing Martus streak was extended to 10 Thursday afternoon and the Wayland girls’ golf team took a nonleague match from Zeeland West at the Crestview Golf Course.
All-state senior ace Ali Martus made it in a row for breaking 40 on nine holes or 80 for 18 holes by shooting a sizzling 37 for the second straight day. Of course, she was individual medalist for the competition, as she has been all season.
But other good things happened on the course as well, as Hunter Fenton came up with a career-best 45, which was the second best individual score of the day. Also figuring in the scoring were Lauren Drew with a 56 and Alxis Kirschbaum with a 58, an off day for her, as she usually is second on the team and often has shot in the mid- to high 40s.
Wayland plays Friday at the Thornapple Kellogg Middleville Invitational at Yankee Springs Golf course. The Lady Wildcats were there Wednesday for an O-K Gold Conference jamboree in which they tied for second place.
