An on-line high school football source called Major Hoople reports that Middleville-Thornapple Kellogg has hired Charlie Feller, who formerly coached in Iowa and Texas.
He will replace Chad Ruger, whose Trojans suffered through an 0-9 season last fall, including a 10-7 defeat at the hands of Wayland.
Major Hoople said, “(Feller) Looks highly successful, but well traveled with five schools in several years. MTK will be the sixth. He was 29 in 2013 per USA Today article.
“He attended a large high school in Illinois before beginning his coaching career at two different Class 4A high schools in Iowa. This year, however, he finds himself coaching at a Class 1A school where the 60-yard practice field is surrounded by fields of corn. While the change might be a little too drastic for many people, the coach says he loves his new job. The sense of community present at North Cedar High makes it the optimal place for a team to come together. As Feller told The Quad-City Times, ‘There’s much more of a feeling of oneness and caring for one another here.’”
