Mike Scott has been announced as the new head varsity volleyball coach at Wayland High School.
Scott, who was a part of the original coaching staff that founded Force Volleyball Academy in 2008 and coached various Force teams from 2008 to 2014, succeeds Nicki Cardosa, who resigned after the 2016 season last fall.
Scott also was an assistant coach at the Eastern Michigan University before returning to Force as an owner and director of training.
He brings with him more than 10 years and 20 seasons of coaching experience at the club, high school and collegiate levels. He was the assistant varsity coach at Livonia Churchill from 2005 to 2008 where the Chargers won the Class A state championship in 2007. He also was part of the Northville High School volleyball coaching staff (freshman and varsity) and helped lead the Mustangs to two Final Four appearances.
Scott was head varsity coach at Farmington High School in 2012 and 2013 and the Head junior varsity coach at John Glenn in 2014.
He is Gold Medal Squared trained, IMPACT certified and CAP II certified.
Mike, who has been playing indoor and beach volleyball for 10 years, currently lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, Mandy. He is a self-proclaimed sports nut and dabbles in stand up comedy.
