The O-K Conference will undergo a major realignment in the 2020-21 school year, resulting in two schools being added to the Silver Division and the addition of two and subtraction of one in the Gold.
When the smoke clears, the Green Division of the conference will be eliminated and all six divisions will have at least eight schools. The Silver, of which Hopkins is a member, will have nine.
The Gold will continue to have Wayland, South Christian, Grand Rapids Christian, Forest Hills Eastern, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg and Wyoming, and Hamilton and Kenowa Hills will be added. East Grand Rapids will move to the O-K White.
All seven current members of the Silver — Hopkins, Godwin, NorthPointe Christian, Calvin Christian, Belding, Wyoming Lee and Kelloggsville, will be joined by Sparta and Comstock Park.
Hamilton and Kenowa Hills were two of the original members of the old Expressway Conference in the 1960s. Hamilton, like Wayland, was a member of the first O-K Blue Division that started in 1971 and Kenowa, like Wayland, became a member of the Gold in the 1980s and 1990s.
Wayland and South Christian have aligned with the Gold Division now for more than 35 years, never changing affiliation. Hopkins consistently has been a member of the Silver since it was first formed more than 25 years ago.
