

Wayland senior Olivia Barabas finished 54th Saturday afternoon in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 state cross-country meet at Michigan International Speedway at Brooklyn.
In her last last prep cross-country race, she turned in a more than respectable time of 19:49.48 over the 5,000-meter course. She was one of 250 harriers running in the meet.
Neighbor Otsego won the state title and East Grand Rapids was runner-up.
East Grand Rapids, regional champion, also won the state boys’ Division 2 championship with 132 points. Forest Hills Eastern was fifth and Otsego sixth.
Sophomore Dylan Pallet ran the five-kilometer race in 17:17.58, good for 100th place. Senior Devin Weaver finished in 149th place in his last high school race in 17:43.03.
There were 258 boys competing in the race.
