Otsego teacher Jake Jewitt new Hopkins varsity hoops coach

Jake Jewett, a middle school social studies and computers teacher in Otsego, has been named head varsity basketball coach for Hopkins High School.

He is in his seventh year teaching in Otsego and eighth overall. A graduate of Michigan State University, he moved to Phoenix, Ariz., for his first year teaching to do third grade, and has teaching experience in Australia and Jamaica.  He graduated from MSU in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in education with an endorsement in social studies.

He coached basketball at Otsego High School.

Jewitt succeedcs Nate Mitchell, who filled in as head varsity basketball coach for almost an entire season in 2016-17 after Darrin Smith resigned in December 2016.
