The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Friday released the names of five girls who will appear on this year’s Miss Basketball ballot, and Wayland senior point guard Presley Hudson is one of them.
Mlive.com had a list of 10 players during the season, but the five finalists announced today are the ones who will be on the ballot.
Hudson will be joined on the ballot by Erika Davenport of Clarkston, Tania Davis of Goodrich, Kalabrya Gondrezick of Benton Harbor and Cierra Rice of Grosse Pointe South.
The Miss Basketball award, sposored by the Detroit Free Press, is presented by the association in mid-March after the state tournament is concluded. Active members of the BCAM vote on the seclection.
Hudson, a four-year starter at Wayland, plans to play basketball next year for Central Michigan University. Davenport will go to Marquette Davis isheaded to Iowa, Gondrezick will play at Michigan State and Rice intends to play at Illinois.

Before the honor is announced, all will be playing for their respective schools in the state tournaments, which start Monday. Hudson and her teammates tonight will play at home for their last regular season game against Grand Rapids South Christian, and then they’ll play at South Monday evening in the first round of the district tourney. Wayland is sporting an 18-1 record overall and is shooting for a share of the O-K Gold Conference championship tonight with Grand Rapids Catholic Central.
Hudson, who is averaging 21.9 points per game, has scored at least 30 three times this year, including a school record-tying 40 (with Angie Farmer Stauffer) against Mattawan (6-13) and 33 against Grand Rapids Christian (16-3).
