Presley Hudson has double-double in CMU OT win

Central presley-hudson-16Michigan University sophomore guard Presley Hudson, a Wayland High School graduate, came up with her first career double-double, totaling 11 points and 12 rebounds and played a major clutch role in CMU’s dramatic 70-67 victory Tuesday night over Oakland University.

Her 12 boards were a career-high and she hit two free throws to break a 67-67 tie with 42 seconds remaining to put the Chippewas ahead for good.

Junior guard Cassie Breen hit back-to-back three-pointers in the second overtime and finished with a game-high 33 points for CMU, now 2-2 on the season overall.

Hudson, an all-state performer and four-year starter for Wayland in 2015 and Miss Basketball runner-up, was the Mid-American Conference’s Freshman of the Year last winter.

The Chippewas will fly out to California on Wednesday to compete in the Cal Poly Tournament over the Thanksgiving Weekend. CMU plays Utah Valley (0-3) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and North Dakota State (1-2) at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
