Presley Hudson named to All-MAC 2nd team, frosh unit

Presley Hudson2 CMUFour members of the Central Michigan women’s basketball team received All-Mid-American Conference honors on Monday.

CMU’s Presley Hudson and Tinara Moore were both named to the All-MAC second team, Hudson and Reyna Frost both earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team, Moore was named to the All-Defensive Team, and Jewel Cotton was named the Co-Sixth Player of the Year Award.

The Chippewas, 20-9, won the MAC West Division title with a 14-4 record and earned the No. 2 seed in the league tournament. CMU will play either Northern Illinois or Western Michigan at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a MAC Tournament quarterfinal game at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

The league office is scheduled to release the league player, coach and freshman of the year winners on Tuesday.

Hudson, a 5-foot-6 freshman guard from Wayland, Mich., is CMU’s leading scorer at 13.8 points per game and is the MAC’s most-efficient free throw shooter, knocking down her charity tosses at an 89.5 percent rate.

She has made 73 three-point field goals this season, which ranks second on the team, and averages a team-best 3.5 assists per game.

Hudson, daughter of Wayland boys’ varsity head coach Mike Hudson, was a Class B all-state player for Wayland a year ago and was runner-up in the balloting for Miss Basketball in Michigan.
