
James Duryee of Hopkins died Sunday, May 3. He was 79.
James was born to his late parents, Everett and Lilian (Puschel) Duryee,on July 16, 1946. He was an accomplished maintenance man working for his father’s Mobile Gas Station in Hopkins and transitioned to the Allegan General Hospital for 27 years before he retired.
Outside of work, James was a lifetime member at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hopkins. He loved to serve and was the caregiver for both his mother and aunt Vivian Roberts before they passed.
James loved to fish and take his camper on camping trips throughout Michigan. He also was a Ford truck enthusiast and believed it was the only truck to own.
He is survived by many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
James’s funeral will be on Tuesday, May 12, from noon to 1 p.m. with an hour’s visitation from 11 a.m. to noon, all at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2907 24th St., Hopkins. A graveside service will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
