Hope Thurston Carter of Shelbyville, a noted area photographer, finished third in her age division Sunday in the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon in Grand Rapids with a time of 53:08. Carter has three sons, all Wayland High School graduates who competed in cross country, swimming and track.
