
Six female members of the Martin High School track team Saturday qualified for the Division 4 state meet at Baldwin Middle School, Hudsonville.
The Clipper athletes earned their trip to state in the regional meet at New Buffao.
Of particular interest was two performance by sophomore distance ace Veyda Conley. She not only qualified. But broke her own school records in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs with times of 5:19.38 and 11:52.4, respectively. She was second in the 1600 and third in the 3200.
Also qualifying for the state meet Saturday, May 31, were:
• Peyton Schuring-Harris – shot put, first place, 45′ 0″
• Ellyse Blackburn, Torryn Harris, Emily King and Sara Schipper – 4×400-meter relay, fifth place, 4:28.04.
The team of 19 athletes brought home 26 medals and 21 PRs.
