Six new inductees added to Hopkins Athletic Fame Hall

Six new inductees into the Hopkins Athletic Hall of Fame will be honored Feb. 25 in between the Vikings’ girls’ and boys’ basketball games.

The six honorees are Lee Dale “Pete” Arnsman, Kevin Glupker, Mike Rynearson, Kelly McEwen, Bob Beck and Zach Miller.

• Zach Miller was a member of the 022 state runner-up football team and earned all-state accolades with more than 2,000 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns. He also recorded 113 victories in wrestling.

• Mike Rynearson earned 10 varsity letters, six most valuable player honors, and had his greatest success in baseball, where he batted .515 as a junior and fashioned a 10-1 pitching record in his senior year. He also scored 41 points in a game in basketball.

Kevin Glupker

• Kevin Glupker was another member of the state runner-up team, in 1999. Rushed for for 4,237 yards in his career in football and scored 54 touchdowns. He continued on the gridiron later at Ferris State University.

• Kelly McEwen was all-state as a point guard in basketball in 1974 and was an all-conference performer in baseball, but his greatest success was as a basketball coach in Wayland, Wyoming and Grand Rapids with 375 career victories.

• Robert Beck has been the Voice of the Vikings at football games for more than 50 years. He was selected as a Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame member.

• Lee Dale “Pete” Arnsman has been a lifelong booster of Hopkins athletics, serving as clock operator in the press box at football games, launched the Mark Allen-Pete Arnsman Scholarship and was a prime mover of the creation of the Hopkins Athletic Hall of Fame program.
