West Catholic, undefeated in the O-K Gold Conference standings and rated No. 4 among the top girls’ basketball teams in the state, defeated Wayland for the second time this season Friday night, 60-38.
The Falcons had little trouble subduing the home-standing Wildcats in the annual “Coaches vs. Cancer” ballgame at which $22,000 was raised.
Addie Sikorski tallied 20 points, nailing one three-pointer and missing only free throw for the night. Marissa Ainsworth chipped in nine points.
Wes Catholic did a defensive number on senior ace Harmony Laker, holding her just to two points.
The loss dropped Wayland’s overall season record to 9-5.
The Wayland boys’ squad got past West Catholic by a 50-44 count to even its overall season record at 8-8.
Hopkins girls 47 Wyoming Godwin Heights 26
The Lady Vikings improved their overall record to 6-7 overall with their second victory this season over Godwin. They lifted their record in league play to 4-2.
The Vikings boys dropped a 68-39decision to Godwin, their second loss this season to the Wolverines. Hopkins is 4-11overall.
The Martin basketball teams’ contest at Saugatuck were postponed Friday evening.
