Is Martin’s boys’ basketball team peaking at the right time this season, or are the Clippers just lucky?

Martin qualified for the Friday night district finals Wednesday by pulling off a 52-51 upset of tournament host Climax-Scotts. This came two days after the Clippers won revenge, 52-45, over a Zion Christian squad that beat them in their regular season finale.

Martin now will face Tri-Unity Christian in the district finals at 7 p.m. Friday, taking a 7-15 overall record into the contest as a bona fide Cinderella outfit.

Not so for Wayland, which turned back Hopkins in its district opener Monday, but then fell 79-58 Wednesday night to tourney favorite Holland Christian. The Wildcats finished with a record of 6-16.
