Students, players, staff and community members turned out in droves Tuesday for a special dedication of a plaque honoring the late Mick Francis, coach, teacher and mentor to many. Current Vikings’ softball coach Amy Funk said, “Today’s dedication was simple and sweet  and it’s an honor to be part of a successful softball  program that has lasted 50 years and still going strong. Community activist Vicki Swainston said, “He was a great teacher, drivers’ trainer (my story lands here) sports trainer, coach of many sports, and most of all — friend!”
