Three Martin students continue to have impact on the Martin/Delton golf team’s success this spring.

The Clippers/Panthers last Friday won the Parchment Coach/Players scramble, shooting a 100 in a format that included team scramble scores added to player only scramble scores and coach individual score on every other hole

“It was a fun format and we won by nine strokes over Kalamazoo Central and seven other schools,” said coach Jim Hogoboom.

The varsity foursome of Alejandro Guevara and Damian LaFountaine both seniors at Martin and two Delton seniors, Drew Ketola and Tanner Janowski, Delton assistant coach and high school principal Lucas Trierweiler teamed up for the victory.

The JV team won the K- Christian Southwest Athletic Conference Jamboree at Crestview, shooting a 198 ahead of Schoolcraft with a 203 and five other division foes. Martin freshman Javier Guevara shot a 53.

“Alejandro Guevara has been the most consistent player for Delton this year, posting team low scores in all five matches so far this year,” Hogoboom added.

Both of the Guevara brothers are sons of Wayland Pine Street Elementary teacher Laura Foster.
