Davenport University last week concluded its softball season with an overall record of 42-10 and it included three former Wayland High School stars.
Sophomore infielder Hayley Obetts, former Lady Wildcats’ third sacker, batted .307 in 46 games, all of which she she started. She had six doubles, two homers and 16 runs batted in.
Freshman Britt McLain, former Wildcats catcher, batted .286 in limited action, with a double and three RBIs.
Freshman Samantha Merren, an outfielder in her WHS days, did not have a plate appearance for the Panthers, but was used primarily as a pinch rinner, and she scored 10 runs on the season.
The Panthers fashioned a 15-3 record in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and wo0n a berth in the NAIA tournament, bowing out to Auburn Montgomery twice last week in the double elimination competition.
