Three former Hopkins and Wayland High School basketball stars now are teammates on the Cornerstone University women’s basketball team.
They are point guard Kennedy Helderop of Hopkins, a senior, and sophomores Parrish Hudson and Stephanie Ainsworth, both from Wayland.
Helderop led the team last year with 101 total assists for a 3.6 per game average. She was third on the team in scoring with 8.1 PPG and had an average of 3.9 rebounds per contest. She led the team in steals with 68, including three career high six steal performances.
Helderop also earned Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Academic honors.
As a junior she started all 28 games for CU at point guard and played 22 games as a freshman.
The 6-3 Ainsworth came off the bench to play in 26 games and average 16.0 minutes per contest. She was second on the team with 4.3 rebounds per game and averaged a team fifth best 6.5 points per game.
Hudson averaged 2.2 points per game and hit four threes in her freshman year.
The Golden Eagles own a record of 2-4 overall.
Wayland grads Carter Nyp and Cory Aisworth are members of the Cornerstone University men’s basketball team.
