Three Lady Wildcats score places in all-star track meet

Wayland girls’ track standouts freshman Corrina Courser, junior Maggie Whitney and freshman Rylee Cronkright earned places Wednesday in the Metro Health Sports Medicine Scholarship Invitational.

The meet, held at Comstock Park High School, was something akin to a West Michigan all-star tournament that included 38 girls’ teams.

Whitney placed ninth in the 800-meter run and she was six seconds slower than her school record performance in the regional Friday. She turned in a time of 2:24.62.

Cronkright was 12th in the open 1600 with a personal best time of 5:32.02 and she was eighth in the 3200 with a time 12:17.15.

Courser settled for 16th in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 17.9 seconds, but she came back later to take a more than respectable fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 48.91 seconds.
