Former Wayland High School softball standouts Mallory Teunissen (top) and Haley Obetts celebrate Davenport University’s Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament championship Tuesday afternoon. Both ex-Lady Wildcats played major roles in winning the title. Obetts, a senior third sacker, had a walk-off single in the eighth inning of the final game and she doubled in the first game of the doubleheader against Madonna University. Teunissen, a sophomore, hiked her season record to 21-4 by pitching the Panthers to a 9-3 victory in the opener. Davenport now sports a 41-7 season record overall.
