Two Wayland High School graduates are members of the nationally-ranked Davenport University women’s bowling team.
The United States Bowling Congress (USBC) last month listed Davenport women’s bowling as eighth. The two WHS grads are Bella Harnish and Kadence Bottrall.
As of January, the ladies have competed in 10 tournaments including five tier-one competitions this year. The team has finished sixth or higher in three of those tier-one events.
The two nearly faced off in the Michigan High School Athletic Association state tournament. final round two years ago. Harnish was state runner-up, losing to the state champ from Whitehall, who also defeated Bottrall in the semifinals.
Of course, both were all-state bowlers in Division 2, Bottrall all four of her high school years.
Harnish this year is a sophomore at Davenport and Bottrall is a freshman.
