Freshman Cory Ainsworth and sophomore Carter Nyp, both Wayland High School graduates, continue to play important roles for the Cornerstone University basketball team.
Ainsworth has appeared in all 15 of the Golden Eagles’ games this season and is averaging 8.5 points per contest. He is shooting at 64.9% from the field and 70 percent at the free throw lines. Nyp has appeared in 14 games and is averaging more than seven points per contest, hitting 69% of his free throws. He is third on the team in rebounding.
Both players were starters for coach Mike Hudson’s Wildcats during their prep careers.
Hopkins graduate Kennedy Helderop, now a freshman at the university, started the team’s first six games and averaged 7.5 points.
