The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team passed the first of three stern tests Tuesday night with a 49-40 victory at Tri-Unity Christian.

The Vikings have reached a point in their schedule in which they face three state-ranked opponents. Tri-Unity was undefeated and rated No. 2 in the Associated Press Class D poll this week.

Hopkins will face Wyoming Godwin Heights, ranked No. 6 in Class B, Friday evening at home, and Grandville Calvin Christian, No. 1 n Class C, next Tuesday. Both upcoming opponents are once beaten and fellow travelers in the O-K Silver Conference.

The Vikings, now 6-1 overall and winners of their last six in a row, were down by four points at the half Tuesday evening at Tri-Unity, but went on a 15-0 in the third quarter to take control of the ballgame.
