Viking boys remain atop the O-K Silver track standings

The Hopkins boys’ varsity track team will take a 6-0 dual meet record in the O-K Silver Conference standings Saturday into the Hopkins Invitational.

The girls’ squad isn’t too shabby either, with a 5-1 league record with its only loss by one point to Fruitport.

The guys Tuesday won three more duals in a quad meet, besting Calvin Christian, Comstock Park and Wyoming Godwin Heights. The Lady Vikings did the same on their home turf.

Some of the highlights of the meet include:

  • Parker Warners and Austin Evans went 2-3 in the 200-meter dash.
  • Jack Estelle , Kash Moored and Cole VerStrate swept the top three slots inn the 3200-meter run.
  • Clayton Kerber won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.1 seconds and teammate Graycin Ingle was second.
  • Hopkins won the 1600-meter relay with Kerber, Isaiah Robinson, Matthew Guzman and Evans in 3:45.2.
  • Noah Opolski took the discus at 135-1.5.
  • Dexter Graczyk and Vijay DeZeeuw went 2-3 in the high jump.
  • Parker Warners won the long jump with a leap of 20-8.

Girls’ meet results

  • Riley Homrich won the 200-meter dash in 27.5 seconds.
  • Lillian Dewey too first in the 1600 in 5:46.5. Dewey also won the 3200 in 13:40.6 and teammate Kaylee Katje was second.
  • Andrea Brower won the 300-meter hurdles at 50.1 seconds and Lillian Moerdyke was runner-up.
  • Lillian Dewey, Peyton Harshberger, Chloe Evans and Izabella Jordan came in first in the 1600 relay in 4:45.
  • Keilah Bonga won the shot put at 32.05 and the discus at 117-11.
  • Ana Espana-Morillo was first in the pole vault by clearing 7-6.
