Freshman Hannah Brinks tossed a no-hitter as Hopkins beat Comstock Park 10-0 in the O-K Silver Conference season doubleheader opener Wednesday.
The Vikings secured the victory by plating six runs in the third inning. Emily Dimock, Avery Osborn, Ava Vanderkolk, Sierra Smith and Lyla Reynolds powered the big inning with RBIs.
They got things moving in the first inning, when Dimock singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Dimock, Osborn, Vanderkolk, Smith and Reynolds all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Brinks went five innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out 11.
Hopkins tallied 11 hits on the day. Dimock, Peyton Roxbury, Vanderkolk, and Osborn all managed multiple hits. The Vikings tore up the basepaths, as three players stole at least two bases. Smith led the way with three.
The Vikings blew out Comstock Park 10-2 in the nightcap.
Hopkins opened up scoring in the first inning and scored two runs when Lyla Reynolds doubled. They tallied three runs in the third inning. Megan Andres, Ava Vanderkolk, and Sierra Smith each drove in runs during the inning.
Smith took the win on the mound. The righthander lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out 13.
Hopkins racked up 12 hits. Smith, Peyton Roxbury, Avery Osborn, and Reynolds all collected multiple hits.
