The Hopkins girls’ track team turned in an impressive overall performance Friday at the Watervliet Relays, scoring more than twice as many points as its nearest competitor, Constantine.

The boys had a good day as well, finishing second to winner Constantine in the field of 15 teams.

The girls amassed 82 points, running away from all comers by 42.5 points. The guys had 60, 8.5 fewer than the winner.

Lady Vikings Kambria Moored, Ellarie Baugh, Sierra Emaus and Riley Homrich hooked up to take first in 52.38 seconds in the 400-meter relay, winning the race by about a second and a half.

Hopkins won the 400-meter shuttle hurdle relay in 1:04.84 with Sophia Baker, Emaus, Brewer and Moored.

Jaeden Harshberger cleared 5-0 to take first in the high jump.

Emaus, Ava VanderVeen, Navaya Ingle and Homrich combined efforts to finish second in the 800 relay, only 37-hundredth of a second behind Coloma.

Moored, VanderVeen, Andrea Brower and Ingle finished second in the 1600 relay.

Peyton Roxbury also was runner-up in the pole vault with a leap of 7-6.

And Baugh was second in the long jump at 15 feet even.

For the guys, Isaiah Tuinstra and Clayton Kerber won the 400-meter hurdles in 54.55 seconds, barely touching out a twosome from Constantine.

Brayden Harnish, Gage Martin, Landen Klinge and Malachi Navis captured first in the 400-meter relay with a time of 46.56 seconds.

Harnish, Clayton Kerber, Martin and Navis hooked up to take the 800 relay in 1:36.52, winning by just one-tenth of a second.

Landen Klinge, who usually dominates the pole vault, had to settle for second when he cleared 12-6, Kalamazoo Christian’s Ayden VanDusen went 13-3.

Freshman Noah Opolski was second in the shot put with a toss of 44-02.5 and teammate Joshua Maule was fourth.

Jacob Helder, Ryan Williams, Kaden Edwards and Jack Estelle finished third in the 3200 relay.
