The Hopkins boys’ cross-country squad finished second Wednesday at the O-K Silver Conference meet at the Candlestone Golf and Resort facility, Belding’s home course.
The Vikings checked with 70 points, finish behind only Belding.
Junior ace Jack Estelle checked in with a fine five-kilometer clocking of 16:06.46 to claim fourth place individually. Freshman Kash Moored also took a top 10 slot with sixth place in 16:35.32. Kenyon Katje was 11th in 17:46.11, Isaiah Robinson 22nd in 18:54.15 and Cole Verstrate was 27th, just missing breaking 20 minutes with a 20:01.29. Teammate Gavin Schans was only two seconds behind him.
Kambria Moored and Allison Breining finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the league meet Wednesday. The Lady Vikings were fourth as a team.
Fruitport won the league crown and Calvin Christian was second.
Moored and Breining both just missed a 20-minute time, with Moored finishing in 20:07.64 and Breining 20:08.65. Lillian Dewey was 13th, Shyanna Buskirk 25th and Peyton Harshberger 26th. The latter two harriers are freshmen.
