Viking softball wins 2 to improve to 6-2 overall

The Hopkins softball team took two victories from O-K Silver Conference foe Kelloggsville Tuesday to improve its season record to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in league play.

The Lady Vikings prevailed 16-1 and 17-0 in two games shortened by the 10-run mercy rule.

Kesley Burgess had the big stick in the opener, delivering a triple and an inside the park homer.

Gracie Stallard threw three innings and gave up two hits, striking out six batters.

Kylie Williams had a double to lead the Hopkins offensive attack in the nightcap. Freshman Jorja Wood threw for three innings, giving up one hit and she had seven strikeouts

Coach Casey Schoenborn noted the Lady Vikings will take on West Ottawa Wednesday and then they will play against perennial O-K Silver powerhouse Calvin Christian Tuesday.
