Viking volleyball team wins in coach’s debut

The Hopkins High School varsity volleyball team Saturday made Alicia Kent’s debut as head coach a successful one by capturing the championship in the Lawton Invitational.

Kent, who succeeded the retiring Terri Wisser, was Hopkins High School junior varsity volleyball coach under Wisser’s guidance for 15 years after leading the middle school squad for two years before that. She stepped down from the junior varsity post for a couple of years and now has taken over the varsity.

The Vikings captured the O-K Silver Conference championship in Wisser’s last season in 2022.

Further details about the tournament were not available.
