The Hopkins boys’ track team opened the dual meet season in the OK-Silver Conference with an 87.5 to 52.5 loss to Grandville Calvin Christian.
Event winners for the Vikings were Logan Blank in the long jump, 18’7.5,″ and 110-meter hurdles, 17.02 seconds; Clayton Frank in the discus, 120’9.75,″ and shot put 41’2.5″;
the 1600-meter relay team of Nick Belka, Michael Heppe, Zach Rietman and Danny Rausch.
Rausch and Belka went 2-3 in the open 400-meter run, Michael Heppe was second in the 300-meter hurdles and Blank picked up a couple of seconds in the throws, Jake Sytsma was runner-up in the high jump at 6-0 and Jacob Pastoor was runner-up in the 3200.
The guys team next travels to Godwin Heights Thursday for their second league dual meet of the campaign and they will be at Watervliet Relays on Friday.
