The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team lost 59-53 in overtime Friday evening to visiting Wyoming Lee.

The Vikings’ overall season record now is 7-12 and they finished at 5-7 in the O-K Silver Conference. They have one more regular season contest, a nonleague encounter Tuesday evening against Comstock on the Colts’ floor.

Hopkins defeated Lee 60-59 earlier this season in their other matchup.

The two teams finished regulation time tied at 49-49. Hopkins could only score four points in the extra session.Coach Nate Mitchell said defense was once again the problem as the Vikings could not keep their ball handlers from driving to the basket and dishing off for easy layups.

The Vikings travel to Comstock March 2nd for the last regular season game! The Vikings will face a 16-3 Wayland ballclub Monday evening, March 6, in the opening round of the Class B district tournament on the Wildcats’ floor.
