The Hopkins varsity baseball team scored five runs in the first three innings Wednesday and coasted to an 11-2 victory over Wyoming Lee.

The Vikings’ season record was improved to 7-2-1 as a result.

Hopkins scored on a double by Zach Brechting in the first inning, a triple by Brock Eller in the first inning, and a single by Ezran Tehennepe in the second inning. They added four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was highlighted by a triple by Austin Black, a error, a single by Ryan Hoeksema, and a double.
Tehennepe earned the win on the mound. He pitched six innings, surrendering two runs, five hits, and struck out seven.

The Vikings banged out 15 hits in the game. Tehennepe, Ethan Nagel and Brechting each collected multiple hits. Hoeksema, Black, Caleb Ryan, Alex Steffes, Tehennepe, Brechting, James Wubben, Brock Eller and Brenden Gossman each drove in one run.
