Vikings split with Belding, now have 5-4 overall record

A walk-off two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning powered Belding to a 4-3 victory Wednesday over Hopkins.

The Vikings now sport a 5-4 overall record.

Hopkins scored in the first inning, when Tyler Zomerlei singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Zomerlei got the start on the mound for Hopkins. He surrendered two runs on five hits over six innings, striking out eight. Cameron Kennedy threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen.
Zomerlei led Hopkins Vikings Varsity with two hits in three at bats.

Zomerlei drove in four runs to lead the Vikings Monday to a 9-1 win over Belding. He had a triple in the third inning and a home run in the sixth.

Zomerlei and Drew Osborn each had RBIs in a big sixth inning rally.
James Wubben was the winning pitcher throwing seven innings, allowing one run on six hits, striking out seven and walking one.
Hopkins Vikings Varsity collected 17 hits. Jake Pals, Zomerlei, Brenden Gossman, Bryce Smith, Osborn, and Braden Gill each came up with multiple hits. Hopkins didn’t commit a single error in the field.
