The Hopkins softball team battled Grandville Calvin Christian to a 6-6 tie in an O-K Silver showdown Tuesday, but then lost 8-7 in game two of a doubleheader.
Senior Hannah Brinks hurled all eight innings in the opener. She yielded 11 hits and three earned runs, striking out eight.
The loss left the Vikings’ overall season record at 4-7-1. Calvin Christian now is 1-3-1.
The two rivals have fought for the league title every year in recent seasons.
