The Wayland High School Athletic Boosters Club has canceled this year’s Booster Bash fund-raiser, which was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20, at Orchard Hills.

Wayland Board of Education member Nancy Thelen announced the development at the school board meeting Monday night. She said the reason was a lack of interest.

The first Booster Bash almost a year ago was reported to have been a terrific success.

“I don’t think there was anything (Athletic Booster President) Shelly (Salisbury Whitley) could have done to make it better,” Thelen said.

She added that a year ago there probably was an outpouring of support because of the death of former Boosters President Tom Andrews.
