The Wayland boys’ varsity bowling team defeated O-K Gold Conference rival South Christian Monday afternoon by a 20-10 count.
The Lady Wildcats, meanwhile, shut out South Christian 30-0 at Spectrum Lanes.
The Wildcat boys found themselves short in the first baker game by just four pins rolling only a 141, but bounced back nicely in baker two with a 181 to South’s 133. Aydin Tolliver marked in a four of his baker frames, leading the team, which took a 6-4 lead into match play.
In match one Kyle VanEss dominated with a 209 game and took his point, as well as Aydin Tolliver. It was these two men’s turn to carry the team winning enough pins to take total as well. Stephen Harnish, Wil Dewing and Chandler Caruso secured the extra pins
Match two proved to be fun for the man of the afternoon, Jayse Henkel who strung seven strikes in a row for the high game of both teams at 221 pins. He won his point as well as along with Kyle VanEss’ 196. These two games again carried total pins for match two, along with the help of Dominik Baker, Aydin Tolliver and Chandler Caruso.
Girls’ coach Eric Bottrall said, “The ladies were able to bowl everyone again, giving our new bowlers a chance to see what varsity bowling is all about.”
High Games by Summer Morrison 107, Breanna Hyde 135, Madison Bottrall 136, Haven Baker 150, Izzy Botwinski 177 and Kadence Bottrall 219.
