The Wayland girls’ and boys’ track teams Friday finished 11th and 12th, respectively, in the Allegan Invitational.
The Lady Wildcats had 28 points, one behind host Allegan and two below Paw Paw. Hamilton finished first in both girls’ and boys’ divisions with 115 points and 87, respectively. The Wildcat guys accumulated 20 points.
The invitational attracted 17 girls’ and 18 boys’ teams.
The best individual performances of the day for the girls were turned in by junior Maggie Whitney, who took third in the open 400-meter run in 62.9 seconds and was fourth in the 800 in 2:28.1.
Freshman Corrina Courser finished fifth in the 100-meter high hurdles in 17.49 seconds and she was fifth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 51.09.
Freshman Rylee Cronkright placed sixth in the 3200 in 12:45.4 and Zoe Antel was seventh.
Cronkright, Abigail Haase, Grace Hasse and Whitney combined to finish sixth in the 3200 relay and Whitney, Abigail Hasse, Hannah Rybiski and Courser finished eighth in the 1600 relay.
Sophomore Caleb Wolf had a good day, taking third in the open 400 in 52.95 seconds and sixth in the 200.
Wolf, Lee Anderson, Anthony Muscarella and Jacob Butler hooked up for a fourth in the 1600-meter relay in 3:39.42.
