The Wayland boys’ varsity cross-country team placed sixth in the O-K Gold Conference meet Tuesday at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids.
The Wildcat girls took eighth with a full complement of five harriers. They only fielded four runners throughout most of the season, therefore not recording a team score.
The Wayland boys checked in with 128 team points. Forest Hills Eastern won with 28 points and Grand Rapids Catholic Central was second with 82.
Junior ace Dylan Pallett ran the 5K in 16:39.82, good enough for a top 10 finish in ninth place. He was followed by Isaac Dyer, 21st in 17:35.15, freshman Xander Stepek, 28th in 18:06.76, freshman Mason Fein 32nd in 18:22.46, and sophomore Ethan Manning, 38th in 18:59.13.
The only senior in the group is Dyer.
Middleville Thornapple Kellogg won the girls’ league meet title with 62 points and South Christian was runner-up with 67.
Elliot Antel tuned in the best Wayland performance, finishing 39th in 22:18.16. Sophomore Megan Stack was 46th, junior Sarah Osborn was 49th and freshman Keyli Perez 52nd.
