WHS graduate battling for offensive guard slot at WSU

Wayland High School graduate Owen Salingue is one of five student-athletes with collegiate experience batting for two starting football spots at offensive guard at Wayne State University this fall.

Salingue, a redshirt sophomore, appeared in the final two games of 2022, both on the PAT team.

He was named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team despite missing the first four games of the season due to an injury. He also dressed for two games,NMU and SVSU, but did not see any playing time.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Salingue of Wayland, he was a starting offensive lineman for the Wildcats during his prep career.
