Breanna Hyde, 2023 graduate of Wayland High School, set the Grace College (Ind.) school record in the long jump Saturday, Jan. 13 at the 24 West 5 Event Challenge indoor meet by leaping 5.30 meters, or 17 feet, 4.5 inches. Hyde also was an outstanding performer for Wayland during her prep career, qualifying for the Division 2 state meet in the long jump last spring. She also was elected homecoming queen in the fall of 2022.
