WHS grad Brittini Merchant named assistant coach at SIUE

Brittini Merchant (left), shown here with her aunt Cheri Ritz, has been named an assistant coach for the softball team at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Merchant, a 2007 graduate of Wayland High School, was Miss Softball in 2007 and later played for graduated from Central Michigan University. She played at Wayland under her aunt’s tutelage and was a member of the 2006 state championship squad. Merchant spent last season as a volunteer assistant softball coach at Northwestern University.
