WHS grad does it again. This time it’s a no-hitter

Emma Ludema

Wayland High School graduate Emma Ludema continues to impress in her freshman year playing softball at Calvin University.

The former Wildcat all-state performer threw the university’s first no-hitter in seven years when she turned the trick in a the nightcap of a doubleheader sweep of Kalamazoo College. She tossed a one-hitter at Albion last month.

It personally was her first no-hitter in her career since she did the same to Hopkins in the Division 2 regional finals last year.

Ludema finished her outstanding showing with five strikeouts and only she allowed one runner on base.

She leads the team in lowest earned run average at 1.76 and she has an 11-3 record thus far for the season. The Knights overall now are 25-9.
