Wayland High School graduate Corrina Courser, a sophomore at Grand Valley State University, was sixth Friday in the preliminary round of the 100-meter hurdles in the NCAA Division 2 championships at Grand Valley.

Courser, who was a star hurdler during her Wildcat prep career, qualified for the NCAA championships and finished second by just two-tenths of a second at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet. Her time then was 14.46 seconds after running the hurdles in just 13.91 seconds in the preliminary round of the league meet.

Courser’s time at the national meet was 14.40 seconds, but she failed to qualify for the final round Saturday.
